Dear Money Doctor®, my Financial Advice is:
Pay attention to one year holdings
My story behind the advice is:
Monitor the growth of your investments. After a stock is held for one year, the gain on the sale of the stock becomes long term. Long term gains can be taxed as little as 0% to 20% by the US government compared to short term gains that can be taxed over 40%. Decide if it is worthwhile to wait a few weeks to sell a stock and take advantage of the spread in tax rates.
